For books, go to the Library catalog and do a Subject search for one of the following terms:

  • BURIAL
  • CREMATION
  • DEAD
  • DEATH
  • EMBALMING
  • FUNERAL RITES & CEREMONIES
  • FUNERAL SERVICE
  • MOURNING CUSTOMS
  • UNDERTAKERS & UNDERTAKING

For streaming videos, use the FILMS ON DEMAND collection. If you search for the term FUNERAL, you get 255 segments, including views of some very famous people's funerals.

For examples of journal articles, try a search in BUSINESS SOURCE COMPLETE. Enter MORTICIANS and limit your results to FULL TEXT to get 214 results.

On a side note, did you know that the Mortuary Science Program at San Antonio College is the first college-based funeral service education program to be offered in Texas? The degree conferred upon successful completion of this program is the AAS Degree in Mortuary Science.

While none of us are anxious to undergo an end-of-life experience, it is somewhat comforting to know we will be in good hands--especially if it is a SAC graduate's hands!
