Hello!

1. We have a list of authors by country along with the titles of a few short stories they are most known for. See the linked PDF files below. These lists are from two print sources: Short Stories for Students (authors & stories) and Short Story Criticism (authors only.) If your author is mentioned in these lists then you are more likely to find literary criticism and analysis for a specific story.

2. Once you select an author and/or author & story, search for the author or author & story in the Literature Resource Center database (linked below) to find criticisms and analysis along with biographical info on the author.

If you only search for the author, look for the LIMIT feature on the right side of your results to narrow your search to find info about specific short stories written by that author. Look for Names of works that are labeled (Short story) so you won't have to comb through a mix of novels, poems, short stories, and everything else the author has written.

3. To find actual copies of the short story, you can search for the author and title of the story in Library Discovery (linked below) to see if the library has a printed copy in an anthology or short story collection (email yourself the location and call number!) or do a Google search for the story to see if anyone has uploaded a copy somewhere.

If you search Google for the author/story title be VERY CAUTIOUS of any translations from the original language. If you need more help locating a copy of the story please contact us!
